Everyone knows his name sounds Canadian or American, but his family roots go back to Senegal and Gambia. Nicolas Jackson was born in Banjul, a city founded by the British in 1816. Originally a trading post and a base to suppress the slave trade, Banjul is now the capital and fourth (4th) largest city in Gambia, renowned for its thriving tourism industry, vibrant markets and beautiful beaches.

Nicolas Jackson’s second place of origin is Ziguinchor, the popular chief town of the Casamance area of Senegal.
