Real Madrid will wait until August before revisiting interest in full-back target

Lately, the situation surrounding Alphonso Davies has become increasingly uncertain, with the Canadian no longer in pole position to join Real Madrid this summer.

Indeed, Uli Hoeness, the honorary president of Bayern Munich, bluntly proclaimed that the Bavarians would be ready to run down Davies’ contract and lose him out for free next summer.

However, this could be a negotiating tactic by Bayern Munich and the Merengues are not yet giving up their pursuit of Davies.

August could be the month of resolution

Now, MARCA has come out to report that if Alphonso Davies does not renew his contract with Bayern Munich, August will be the time to address the issue.

Considering the summer transfer window will close on August 30, next month would be a final chance for Bayern Munich to give into Davies’ demands or place him on the market.

In the event that the 23-year-old refuses to pen a contract extension, Real Madrid would be ready to pounce and leverage the fact that he would be a free agent the following year.

As such, while transfer negotiations are presently at a standstill, more clarity is expected to be achieved next month when all parties will be compelled to take decisive action as the deadline approaches.

Davies, for his part, is hellbent on acquiring a higher salary package and is open to joining Real Madrid.

Real Madrid are preparing a sound safety net

Given the ambiguity around Davies, Real Madrid are not willing to wait indefinitely and have already begun negotiating a renewal deal for Ferland Mendy.

While Davies’ potential arrival might lead to an excess of options, Los Blancos prefer not to risk their current squad’s stability. They are therefore working to ensure they are prepared in case the Davies operation is disrupted.
