Manchester United are keen to sign £30m Brazil international right-back Vanderson in the summer transfer window, who possesses ‘obscene pace’.
That’s according to Sky Sports, who report that the Red Devils have made the Monaco star one of their targets as a possible Aaron Wan-Bissaka replacement.
Wan-Bissaka is down to the last 12 months of his current deal and has been linked with an exit in recent weeks, meaning United may need to fill that gap.
Should Wan-Bissaka leave, United would like to bring in Vanderson, a 23-year-old known for his ‘obscene pace’, who’d give Erik ten Hag’s side a huge speed boost.
‘Vanderson is a right-back who stands just shy of six foot, which is quite unique for a full back,’ top football scout Antonio Mango posted on social media.
‘[He possesses] obscene pace and acceleration, athleticism, dynamism, elite technical skills and breathtaking energy.
‘Vanderson is very much your modern-day full-back who likes to get forwards are much as possible and be involved offensively.
‘He’s been used as a full-back, wing-back and right winger with AS Monaco but no matter where he’s positioned it doesn’t effect much his game.
‘Vanderson is renowned for his offensive prowess, power and physicality. But it’s his pace that is most noticeable, the Brazilian whooshes down the flank and is almost fearless in the way he constantly breaks through to the opponent’s byline.
What is Vanderson’s stance on a move to Man Utd?
Vanderson admitted last year it was ‘great’ to hear of interest from Manchester United as well as Barcelona.
He said: ‘It’s great to hear Barcelona and United ‘love’ you. It’s fantastic to know your name is being mentioned by the big clubs. But, now I’m focused only on Monaco.’
‘Vanderson causes a significant problem for opponents capable of beating them with and without the ball. With the ball, his technique is excellent and his ability to dribble at top speed is phenomenal.’
It is the second summer in a row that United have been linked with a move for Vanderson.
How much would Vanderson cost Manchester United?
Vanderson is valued at £30m, Give Me Sport have reported, but it should be noted Monaco are under no pressure to sell at all and he may be sold for more.
The Brazilian is under contract until 2028 and there is no known release clause in his current deal – meaning the Ligue 1 side would be able to set a high price tag.
Vanderson’s market value, according to Transfermarkt, currently stands at around €20m (£16.8m). But he’s likely to cost considerably more than that suggested fee.
