Ancelotti tests interesting new Real Madrid lineup in training ahead of El Clasico

Real Madrid’s pre-season tour in the US is underway. The Merengues suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to AC Milan in the opening game, but have an opportunity to make amends against FC Barcelona in the upcoming Clasico.

With just one day left in the clash, coach Carlo Ancelotti is tinkering with new ideas in training and availing the opportunity to test out new lineups.

Ancelotti’s latest tactical experiment

Now, according to Jorge Picon, Ancelotti is exploring a fresh tactical approach by fielding a lineup that promises a blend of experience and youth.

The lineup features Thibaut Courtois as the goalkeeper, with a defensive backline consisting of Lucas Vazquez, Eder Militao, Antonio Rudiger, and Fran Garcia.

In the midfield, Ancelotti has berthed Dani Ceballos alongside Arda Guler and Luka Modric, creating a dynamic and balanced central trio.

On the wings, Brahim Diaz and Rodrygo are set to provide pace and creativity, while Endrick takes up the central forward role, promising an exciting attacking strategy.

Depending on the initial impressions this lineup makes on Ancelotti, it could potentially be one of the teams featured in the upcoming clash with Barcelona.

As such, it appears that Vinicius Jr. might not be ready to start even though reports suggested that Real Madrid could deploy an all-Brazilian frontline of him, Rodrygo, and Endrick.

Given that pre-season friendlies permit unlimited substitutions, modifications to this lineup will likely occur. However, the most certain outcome is that the players mentioned will probably see regular action throughout the tour.

Most of the players from this starting lineup will be facing immense competition in their respective positions once the campaign begins. As such, the tour provides them with a good opportunity to win over Ancelotti.

In any case, for now, Real Madrid would be looking forward to ending their winless streak against Barcelona in pre-season friendlies, having lost the last three games.
