Less than 24 hours remain before Real Madrid take to the field in the United States for the third and final time in pre-season.
Heading into the clash, there is a feeling that the men in white desperately need a win. After all, their opening games against AC Milan and Barcelona both ended in defeats and the UEFA Super Cup is less than ten days away.
Two key absentees
Real Madrid are already in Charlotte for the third pre-season friendly against Chelsea and will face off against the London-based side at the Bank of America Stadium.
Ahead of the game, however, Arda Guler and Endrick did not train with the group as revealed by Melchor Ruiz.
Both players suffered muscle overloads, and while their injuries are not serious, the Merengues will exercise caution over their use.
It thus remains to be seen if the young duo participate against Chelsea later today or are rested for the friendly fixture.
Notably, both Guler and Endrick started against Barcelona in El Clásico. While the Turkish star had a decent outing, the Brazilian phenom struggled to leave his mark on the game.
Game under threat
Real Madrid’s tour in the United States so far has largely been marred by poor weather conditions. El Clásico, in fact, was even suspended mid-game owing to thunderstorms and heavy rainfall.
As relayed yesterday, Los Blancos’ upcoming clash faces a similar threat.
Charlotte is under threat of facing the wrath of tropical storm Debby, and while the chance is low, it cannot be ruled out. After all, the forecast predicts severe rainfall on the night and the game can not continue under such conditions.
Given that it is a friendly fixture and the poor weather conditions that may impact the playing field, it would be in Real Madrid’s best interest to rest the young duo.
