Jude Bellingham was one of the star performers in Europe last season, enjoying a dream debut campaign at Real Madrid.
However, by the end of the season, Bellingham was exhausted, his contributions waning due to the heavy load of 4,707 minutes over 54 matches for both club and country.
This led to concerns over a potential burnout, especially knowing that Bellingham could play a bigger role for Real Madrid heading into the new season.
Real Madrid’s plan to regulate Bellingham’s fitness
As reported by Diario AS, Real Madrid’s primary objective this season is to ensure the recovery and optimal performance of Jude Bellingham.
Bellingham’s stellar 2023 included 27 goals and 17 assists, but 2024 has been more challenging. The gruelling Eurocup campaign with England added to his fatigue.
Recognizing the need for stability and avoiding performance slumps, Real Madrid has devised a roadmap for Bellingham’s better management.
The internal message is clear: “Rest is essential,” especially for Bellingham, whose relentless ambition often leads him to push beyond limits.
The coaching staff acknowledges Bellingham’s drive to play every game at full throttle. For the upcoming season, they plan to regulate his playtime, even during national team duties, potentially covering over 80 games
Injuries also impacted Bellingham’s rhythm. A high-grade sprain against Girona in January sidelined him, followed by a significant shoulder injury in November.
These setbacks, combined with a suspension after a match-winning goal against Valencia, affected his competitive consistency. Yet, Bellingham remains unfazed by criticism, focusing on recovering his peak form.
As the new season approaches, Real Madrid aims to assess Bellingham’s condition thoroughly. The first challenge is the European Super Cup against Atalanta on August 14.
With tactical adjustments, including Bellingham playing a more midfield role due to the arrivals of Mbappé and Endrick and the departure of Kroos, Real Madrid is set to support Bellingham’s recovery and ensure he returns to his best
