The spotlight at Real Madrid has partially shifted to Kylian Mbappe after the Frenchman’s arrival earlier this summer. As one of football’s most popular figures, the forward will serve as the club’s poster boy for years.
While Mbappe’s aura is undeniable, Vinicius Jr is equally, if not as influential as the Frenchman both on the field and as the face of the club.
Questions were raised over how the duo could work together with a possible clash of egos being a worry.
Saudi Arabia have thus been alert to the situation and are hoping to capitalize on it as revealed earlier this week.
The mammoth proposal
As revealed in a recent update via GE Globo, the offer made to Vinicius from Saudi Arabia includes a staggering salary of €1 billion, which is 13 times his current wages.
They also offer him the chance to become a free agent in 2029 and an opportunity to return to Europe before he is 30 years old so that he can achieve any pending objectives he has in football.
To top it all off, the Saudi proposal also includes any job of his choice in Saudi Football after his retirement and gives him the chance to be the ambassador for the 2034 FIFA World Cup.
Needless to say, it is easier said than done to reject an offer of such magnitude, especially when the ship sails only once.
Real Madrid refuse to sell
While Saudi Arabia are trying to capitalize on Vinicius’ ever-so-small weak point after Mbappe’s arrival, the truth is that both players are looking forward to sharing the stage in Madrid.
Both Mbappe and Vini play in a similar niche on the field, but Carlo Ancelotti has been working on solutions to maximize the output of both stars.
Real Madrid, thus, have no intention of selling Vinicius even for hundreds of millions. His release clause set at €1 billion would perhaps be the only way to force a departure.
The ball now lies in the player’s court, although for now, he has rejected the ‘biggest transfer in football history.’
