Real Madrid are at the doorstep of their new season with under 24 hours remaining before they play their first official game of the season.
Carlo Ancelotti’s squad appears frightening to say the least, especially considering the recent arrivals of Kylian Mbappe and Endrick.
The men in white, however, appear to have suffered a serious blow ahead of tonight’s UEFA Super Cup clash against Atalanta as Eduardo Camavinga went down in serious pain during training.
A serious setback?
There is unsurprisingly a lot of concern over Camavinga’s situation given the key role he plays in the team. He is ruled out of tonight’s clash as well.
According to reports from Mario Cortegana, the Frenchman does not appear to have suffered an ACL tear. However, the medical staff still suspect it to be something serious, possibly an internal ligament damage.
Considering the pain with which the player went down, it is clear that the injury is not a mild knock. After all, he went down with a loud scream and Luka Modric even held his hands over his head at the time of the incident.
Camavinga’s message
Coming out on his social media after the setback, the Real Madrid midfielder revealed that he had indeed suffered a painful blow.
“It hurts a bit, yes, it’s my knee, I don’t know what’s wrong, I have examinations tomorrow morning.”
It remains to be seen what comes of the tests Real Madrid run tomorrow on the player. Ancelotti will hope it is nothing serious, for the value Camavinga adds is endless.
Last season, the midfield phenom made 31 appearances in La Liga, playing both as a defensive midfielder and an interior based on the requirement.
In that duration, he recorded two assists, 0.6 key passes per game and recorded north of 10 defensive actions per game.
