Real Madrid midfield youngster set to join La Liga minnows on loan

Real Madrid kickstarted their 2024/25 campaign astonishingly, securing a 2-0 win over Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup.

The game saw Kylian Mbappe not only make his debut but also score his first goal for the club. However, a key highlight of Real Madrid’s win over Atalanta was the absence of homegrown talents on the roster.

That is perhaps because Real Madrid are currently looking to offload their young academy prospects elsewhere.

So far this summer, the club have already offloaded the likes of Rafa Marin and Juan Latasa. Everything suggests Mario Martin could be the next one to join the list.

According to a recent report from Manu Amor, it appears Real Valladolid are closing in on the capture of Martin this summer.

The young midfield prodigy looks all set to join the club on a loan deal and the move could be made official in the coming hours.

A move to Valladolid means Martin could reunite with his RM Castilla teammate Juanmi Latasa, who joined the club for a fee of just €2.5 million this summer.

What happened with Martin?

Among all the talents at La Fabrica, Mario Martin was considered a favourite of first-team coach Carlo Ancelotti.

The Italian even deployed the young midfielder on all three matches during the pre-season trip to the US. In fact, it was reported that Ancelotti is counting on Martin’s services next season.

But Real Madrid’s decision to sanction a loan move for the young midfielder suggests Ancelotti will continue to trust the first-team stars.

It must be noted that the midfielder unit is already overcrowded, even with the retirement of Toni Kroos. A loan move to Valladolid, therefore, could help the youngster gain some vital first-team minutes in La Liga next season.
