While Rodrygo Goes may not have the same name that his compatriot Vinicius Jr has as a terrifying winger, he is one of the best in the world in his own right.
Rumours of his departure simply because the Merengues signed two new names in attack this summer, thus, were a tad bit too far and quite clearly affected the youngster.
Despite the resistance, however, the Brazilian star stood his ground and insisted that he was here to stay but that has not stopped others from keeping the topic of his inadequacy in Madrid from staying alive.
English legend has his say
Speaking to ESPN UK in a recent interaction, former English footballer and radio host Jamie O’Hara was asked if Bukayo Saka would get into Real Madrid’s current starting lineup under Carlo Ancelotti.
Without much hesitation, the former midfielder admitted that, in his opinion, the Arsenal winger would displace the Brazilian star in the team.
“I think he’d [Saka] get into Real Madrid’s starting XI if he was there – he’d probably play over Rodrygo.”
Needless to say, he is only the latest on the long list of critics Rodrygo has had to face this season, for many see him as the scapegoat in attack to be hit hard by the arrival of Kylian Mbappe.
While his first performance this season was slightly off, the youngster stepped up in Los Blancos’ league opener against Mallorca and scored the only goal on the night, showing that he has what it takes to adapt to a new position.
After the game, Rodrygo even sent out a message on his WhatsApp channel hitting back at critics and standing up for his quality. The message, however, was swiftly deleted as his entourage felt it could be grossly misinterpreted.
