Valladolid defender idolises Real Madrid legend, wants Mbappe’s shirt on Sunday

Real Valladolid defender Luis Perez has made an interesting request ahead of his team’s away match against Real Madrid on Sunday.

The 29-year-old expressed his admiration for Kylian Mbappe and revealed his desire to secure the French star’s shirt after the game. Perez also spoke of his admiration for former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos, describing him as his idol.

“I want Kylian Mbappe’s shirt after the game. My idol? Sergio Ramos,” Perez told El Chiringuito TV.

Perez’s comments come as Real Madrid are set to face Valladolid at the Santiago Bernabeu in what will be their first home game of the 2024-25 La Liga season.

After a mixed start to the new season, having won the UEFA Super Cup followed by a 1-1 draw to Mallorca, Los Blancos will be eager to secure their first league win.

Real Madrid’s availability

One key player who will be missing from Real Madrid’s line-up is Ferland Mendy. The French defender received a red card in the match against Mallorca and is therefore suspended for the game against Valladolid.

This absence might force manager Carlo Ancelotti to adjust his defensive line-up, possibly offering a chance for some of the younger players to step up.

Despite this setback, Real Madrid will feel confident heading into Sunday’s match. Their recent record against Valladolid is overwhelmingly positive.

The last time these two teams faced each other, Real Madrid delivered a dominant performance, scoring six goals without conceding.

In fact, Real Madrid have won their last five meetings with Valladolid without conceding a single goal.

It must be noted that Valladolid’s last visit to the Bernabeu was in 2019, where they managed to snatch a surprising 1-1 draw. However, this result stands out as an anomaly in recent encounters.

Valladolid have not defeated Real Madrid since November 2008, when they secured a narrow 1-0 victory.

Remarkably, that match featured some of Real Madrid’s legends, including Raul, Guti, and Luis Perez’s idol, Ramos. Since then, they have struggled to keep up with Los Blancos, often finding themselves on the losing end.
