Real Madrid superstar receives support from national team coach following slow start

Kylian Mbappe enjoyed the best possible start to his Real Madrid career when he scored in a 2-0 win over Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup final.

However, since then, the forward has not been able to hit the gears up and running. Two games into the new season, Mbappe is yet to score his maiden goal in La Liga.

The Frenchman was far from his best in the opening couple of matches against Mallorca and Real Valladolid respectively.

Mbappe receives the backing of Deschamps

Amid mounting pressure to score his first goal in La Liga, Mbappe has received support from none other than Didier Deschamps, the French national team coach.

“He has always scored goals and he will continue to score them,” said Deschamps (h/t Mundo Deportivo) while announcing the French squad for the upcoming games against Italy and Belgium.

It is no secret that Deschamps is quite fond of Mbappe, having worked with him closely over the years. He even made the forward the captain of the French national team during the Euro 2024 this summer.

Talking about Mbappe’s struggles at Real Madrid, Deschamps added that it is essential he gets acclimatised to the new surroundings.

“Although he is a great player, it is essential to learn new surroundings,” Deschamps said. He further said that he has seen “good legs” and that the player “has everything” to succeed at Real Madrid.

Real Madrid, for their part, remain happy with Mbappe’s output and are not listening to any outside noise.

Mbappe will have the chance to score his first goal in La Liga as Real Madrid take on Las Palmas in Gran Canaria later this evening.
