Real Madrid’s midfield today boasts of names that rule world football in Aurelien Tchouameni, Federico Valverde and Jude Bellingham among others.
However, the club’s current midfield unit is still far off from replicating the legacy of the legends they succeeded.
The Luka Modric-Toni Kroos-Casemiro trio dominated world football and the UEFA Champions League for years and are rightly considered one of the best midfield trios in history.
The Croatian is still at the club today while the German star retired after last season. Casemiro, meanwhile, plies his trade for Manchester United and is not enjoying a purple patch at Old Trafford.

Erik Ten Hag’s men fell to a humiliating 3-0 home defeat to arch-rivals Liverpool earlier this week with a shambolic performance that attracted criticism from across the globe.
While the team was indeed disastrous as a whole, Casemiro’s display on the night was particularly horrific.
The 32-year-old Brazilian started on the night and made two direct errors that led to goals for the Merseyside club. He was dribbled past twice, lost possession 14 times and was sloppy with his distribution.
His sub-par performance unsurprisingly attracted serious criticism from fans and pundits and his close environment does not appear to have taken it well.
Earlier today, Casemiro’s partner Anna Mariana took to her Instagram to post a photo of the Real Madrid legend’s trophy cabinet to remind critics of the player in question.
The photo included a collection of all of the Brazilian’s honours including his three La Liga titles, five UEFA Champions League accolades, and his three Club World Cups amongst other trophies.
Over the years, the veteran midfielder has earned the status of a living legend of the game and his poor display earlier this week can only be described as a rare day off. After all, the Real Madrid faithful know well of the Brazilian’s quality and mentality.
