Fabrizio Romano dismisses rumours of Liverpool eyeing Real Madrid ace to replace forward

Real Madrid forward Rodrygo attracted plenty of interest during the summer transfer window and rumours of a possible exit lingered around amidst the arrival of Kylian Mbappe.

Nothing came of it in the end though with the Brazilian forward continuing at the club, who never considered the possibility of offloading the player during the window.

However, reports of interest from the Premier League continue to do the rounds, with the latest rumours suggesting that Liverpool are interested in the 23-year-old.

It has been indicated that the Reds are looking to part ways with Darwin Nunez and see Rodrygo as the man to replace the Uruguayan forward.

Romano debunks claims

However, Fabrizio Romano (via The Daily Briefing) has dismissed the rumours of Liverpool wanting to sell Darwin Nunez to Atletico Madrid and replace him with Rodrygo.

“It’s difficult for me even to comment on the Rodrygo and Darwin Nunez rumours, guys…,” Romano remarked.

Continuing, the Italian transfer expert added: “I don’t even know where these links are coming from. Nunez to Atletico Madrid, Rodrygo to Liverpool… trust me, now it’s all completely quiet.

“There are no negotiations or talks for these players, Nunez is completely focused on Liverpool and Atletico just spent €75 million plus add-ons on Julian Alvarez two months ago.”

Romano also reminded that Rodrygo signed a new contract with Real Madrid only last year and remains fully focused and committed to the club.

“Rodrygo also extended his Real Madrid contract less than one year ago and he’s only focused on Real Madrid,” he stated.

Rodrygo penned a new long-term contract with Real Madrid which runs until the summer of 2028. So far, the 23-year-old has made ten appearances this season, scoring three goals and setting up two more.
