In a recent interview with AS, Barcelona’s summer target Nico Williams explained his decision to stay at Athletic Club, despite immense interest from Catalonia.
Apart from his future at Athletic Club, Nico also talked about various other things, including Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele.
Nico on replicating Mbappe
In fact, Nico admitted that he often tries to replicate the playstyles of both Mbappe and Dembele, in order to grow into a better footballer. He also admitted that both the players are his role models.
“They are great players and role models for me. They are unique, they have incredible dribbling skills,” Nico said.
“I often take their game to mine, I try to copy the plays they make. It is very good for me to learn from the best,” he added.
It appears Nico is indeed a great admirer of the French duo, which is why some of their traits can be seen in the way the Spaniard operates in the final third.
Replicating these two players has paid off well for Nico as well, with the forward emerging as one of La Liga’s finest attacking talents.
Mbappe, on the other hand, has had a mixed start in La Liga, but has managed to rack up five goals in seven matches.
Nico has some catching up to do, having scored only one in seven matches so far. However, these are still early parts of the season and it will be interesting to see whether or not the Spaniard can replicate his performances from last season.
