Carlos Queiroz, a highly respected figure in football, has shared his thoughts on the current challenges Kylian Mbappe faces at Real Madrid.
According to Queiroz, Mbappe is in a difficult situation because, despite his immense talent, he requires time to fully adapt to the team.
However, the reality of playing for a club as massive as Real Madrid is that there is no luxury of time for adjustment. The intense demands of playing at such a high level mean that players are expected to perform at their best immediately.
Queiroz, who has a wealth of experience in football, was recently honoured by Liga Portugal at the ‘Thinking Football Summit’ for his four decades in the sport.
During the event, which took place in Porto, he spoke with Diario AS and reflected on various topics, including Mbappe’s current situation at Real Madrid.
Queiroz’s experience at Madrid and Mbappe
Drawing on his past experiences, Queiroz pointed out that it is common for Real Madrid to face challenges in integrating high-profile players. Mbappe’s arrival poses the question of where he best fits within the current team.
Queiroz remains confident that Real Madrid’s manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has the experience and wisdom to find the right solution for Mbappe.
“Ancelotti has enough experience and wisdom to find the best solution with Mbappe in time. It is not a unique situation in football. Mbappe needs time, but in Madrid, there is no time, that is the reality,” he began by saying.
While it may seem like a complex problem, Queiroz highlighted that such situations are not uncommon in football. The game is full of beauty, fantasy, and unpredictability, and sometimes the most logical decisions do not lead to the best results.
“That shows the beauty, fantasy and complexity of the game of football, that what seems logical is not always what gives good results.
“I say this because I have experience of Madrid, as you know, and the best solutions do not always turn out to be the right solutions,” he added.
Ultimately, Queiroz believes that only the matches themselves can reveal whether integrating a world-class player like Mbappe will be the right move. The answer, as he says, lies in the outcome of those crucial 90 minutes on the pitch.
“Let’s see if choosing one of the best players in the world today is the right solution. And there is only one thing that can answer that. It is called 90 minutes of play,” he concluded.
