Real Madrid closely following 19-year-old La Liga defensive prospect – report

Leny Yoro’s decision to snub Real Madrid for Manchester United was a significant moment in the recent summer transfer window.

After it seemed like the French teenage prodigy would secure a move to Spain, he signed for the English side, leaving Los Blancos with few options in defence.

Nacho Fernandez’s departure and David Alaba’s long-term injury, moreover, left the club with just two trusted first-team options in the position. With the Austrian’s recovery now delayed, the manager stares at a serious problem.

Target identified

Given the current and long-term void in the department, Real Madrid are seriously scouting the market for young and dynamic options who can serve as a mainstay for the long term.

Yarek Gasiorowski has emerged as one of their targets on that front, and AS now further that the club is seriously maintaining tabs on his situation.

Just 19 years of age now, the youngster plies his trade for Valencia in La Liga and ticks all the boxes real Madrid demands – he is young, powerful, has a high ceiling and great potential.

The Spanish outlet furthers that Los Blancos particularly favour his profile as he is a left-footed centre-back which is quite hard to come by in the market.

While the youngster is indeed a great option, Real Madrid will not have it easy to secure his signing especially given that they have been reluctant to spend big in recent transfer windows for the centre-back position.

Gasiorowski’s release clause currently stands at €45 million and may well increase if he continues to play at the highest level regularly. That fee may raise eyebrows in the offices at the Valdebebas.

Real Madrid are also monitoring other players like Vitor Reis of Palmeiras and Castello Lukeba of RB Leipzig while former Manchester City man Aymeric Laporte is also on the agenda.
