Real Madrid made headlines this past summer by securing the services of Kylian Mbappe, who joined the club on a free transfer.
But the Frenchman’s arrival may have set the stage for Real Madrid to bring in more stars for the future and build a truly invincible squad in the years to come.
To that end, one of the players Real Madrid are monitoring is Erling Haaland, who is facing an uncertain future at Etihad amid the likely departure of Pep Guardiola.
Haaland interested in Real Madrid project
According to a recent report from Sky Sports (h/t Diario SPORT), it appears Haaland is attracted to the project at Real Madrid.
Haaland has even informed his entourage that he wants to become a Real Madrid player in the near future.
Haaland’s current deal at Etihad expires at the end of 2027. But he could leave the club much sooner, especially amid uncertainty over the future of Pep Guardiola, whose contract expires at the end of the season.
It must also be noted that Haaland has a €150 million+ release clause attached to his contract. Although it is quite a hefty amount, Real Madrid remain one of the favourites to sign the forward.
Man City preparing for Haaland exit?
Recent events have also indicated that Man City themselves might be preparing for Haaland’s exit in the near future.
The club, in fact, are eyeing a move for Victor Gyokeres, who has been identified as the ideal man to replace Haaland.
This could prove to be a massive boost for Real Madrid, who have not ruled out the possibility of signing Haaland despite the arrival of Mbappe in the summer.
The Spanish giants, though, may face stiff competition from their arch-rivals Barcelona, who consider Haaland to be a key strategic target.
