Report – Real Madrid midfield configuration for Clasico vs Barcelona

In a little over three hours, Real Madrid will face off against arch-rivals FC Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu in the first El Clasico of the season.

Considering that Los Blancos are already three points behind the Catalans, who are sitting atop the league table, another slip-up here could prove costly for Carlo Ancelotti & co.

Heading into the game, all eyes are on the tactics and formation that the Real Madrid boss will deploy to tackle Hansi Flick’s side.

Real Madrid’s midfield configuration decided

Now, journalist Miguel Angel Diaz of COPE has unveiled how Real Madrid will set up in the middle of the park.

With Rodrygo ruled out, it was always expected that Real Madrid would go into the contest with four central midfielders.

However, instead of a diamond setup, the Merengues will set up with a four-man bank which will see Jude Bellingham occupy the right flank while Eduardo Camavinga is expected to start and slot in on the left-hand side.

Meanwhile, Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni will occupy the two positions in the central midfield position.

It would mean that captain Luka Modric will not be starting, with both Camavinga and Tchouameni set to return to the starting XI after being benched against Borussia Dortmund this midweek.

Vinicius Jr. and Kylian Mbappe will be the two attackers up top while the defensive line is likely to comprise Lucas Vazquez, Antonio Rudiger, Eder Militao, and Ferland Mendy, with Andriy Lunin in goal.
