The Carabao Cup has reached the Last 16 stage for the 2024/25 season, with teams up and down the country looking to secure success in the cup competition. It’s typically seen as the ‘least important’ tournament of the season, with respective divisions, including the Premier League, and the FA Cup taking priority.

With the fourth round matches set to take place this week, the draw for the next stage of the competition is hurtling over the horizon. The quarter-final ties will take place in the week commencing 17th December.

Date & Time

The draw for the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup will take place after the tie between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City on Wednesday 30th October. The start time will vary depending on what the final score is after 90 minutes, but it’s likely to be between 10pm and 10:30pm (GMT).

Numbers to be announced on the morning of Wednesday 30th October


Almost three decades after Jimmy Greaves and Ian St John managed to rope Donald Trump into drawing the balls for this competition in 1992, Sky and BBC presenter Chapman will be in charge on Wednesday night. The EFL announced on Monday that the ball numbers for the draw will be officially announced on the morning of Wednesday, 30th October. Six of the eight ties will take place on Wednesday, including Chelsea’s away trip to St James’ Park and Arsenal’s match against Championship side Preston North End.

At this stage of the competition last season, Liverpool beat West Ham 5-1, while Chelsea snuck past Newcastle on penalties. The other two winners were Middlesbrough and Fulham, who secured their spot in the semi-finals at the expense of Port Vale and Everton, respectively.

Six matches take place on Wednesday 30th October. Four of the six matches kick off at 7:45pm (GMT), while Liverpool’s trip to Brighton starts 15 minutes earlier and Spurs’ against City starts at 8:15pm (GMT). Manchester United’s home game against Leicester City will be the club’s first match since the sacking of Erik ten Hag. Meanwhile, Aston Villa host Crystal Palace, Arsenal visit Preston, and Chelsea face Newcastle for the second time in four days.
