Real Madrid hierarchy prefers 21-year-old starlet over Ancelotti favourite in key position

It has been an indifferent start to the season for Real Madrid, who are still dealing with the retirement of Toni Kroos and struggling to find the right balance in their midfield setup.

While manager Carlo Ancelotti has put immense faith in Aurelien Tchouameni and given him added responsibilities, things do not seem to be clicking for the 24-year-old French international.

As such, questions are being asked about his performances while reports earlier today suggested that Real Madrid might even be open to offers for him in the summer if things do not improve.

Real Madrid board prefers Camavinga

Building on that journalist Jorge C Picon reports that as things stand, the Real Madrid hierarchy, led by club president Florentino Perez himself, prefers Eduardo Camavinga over Aurelien Tchouameni in the pivot midfield role.

While Ancelotti continues to favour the senior of the two French midfielders, the board is leaning towards the 21-year-old youngster.

Even though Camavinga is considered more tactically unpredictable, he is viewed as technically superior to Tchouameni as per the report, with some within the board even comparing his potential to that of Clarence Seedorf.

However, the coaching staff does not see it that way as they feel the youngster is tactically not ready to be put in a position of such responsibility.

Camavinga missed more than a month of the new season due to a knee injury and has been slowly eased into action over the past mont or so. As such, he has made only five appearances across all competitions so far.

Amidst doubts growing over Tchouameni’s performances, it will be interesting to see if Ancelotti decides to give the former Rennes wonderkid more responsibility in midfield in the games to come.
