Real Madrid superstar most likely to miss the AC Milan game – report

Thibaut Courtois was sorely missed in El Clasico as Real Madrid were hammered 0-4 by Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu. Andriy Lunin was not at fault for any of the goals, but there was a feeling that the Belgian could have done better.

The goalkeeper, however, suffered an injury to his adductor muscle against Borussia Dortmund and the latest setback placed him out for two to three weeks of action.

Now, MARCA provides an update on his situation and potential date of return.

A Champions League return

As reported by the Spanish publication, although Courtois’ recovery is progressing well, the player may not be available for Real Madrid’s next game.

With the team’s clash against Valencia postponed, they will take to the field on the 6th of November against AC Milan at Santiago Bernabeu and the keeper is targeting a return on that night.

Furthermore, it has been suggested that Courtois is working on returning soon, but he has not trained with the team yet. This means no risks will be taken and Andriy Lunin will retain his spot if there is even slight doubt over Courtois’ fitness.

The Belgian star has been sensational between the sticks for Carlo Ancelotti’s side, starting nine games and averaging two saves per game. He has overseen three clean sheets in the process and is one of the major pillars behind several of the team’s wins.

Ancelotti will thus hope to have the superstar back for the team’s next game, especially with the defence malfunctioning and the team lacking stability at the back. Courtois’ return, needless to say, will be a big boost.
