Liverpool forward names Real Madrid phenom the best player in the world

It is beyond doubt that Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr. is one of, if not the best player in the world at the moment.

With his dribbling prowess and improved finishing, he is a complete package on the left wing and is, by far, the best left-winger on the planet.

Vinicius has slowly evolved into the team’s most consistent and reliable player in attack, and while Kylian Mbappe’s arrival was expected to dampen his authority, it has not in any measure.

In fact, the player finishing second in the Ballon d’Or race in itself is a testament to his placement as one of the best in the business.

Gakpo has his say

Speaking to the media in a recent interview, Liverpool forward and Dutch international Cody Gakpo was asked who the best player in the world was in his opinion.

“Best player in the world? Vini Jr,” he said with no hesitation as revealed by Goal.

Gakpo’s choice echoes the preference of so many football fans across the globe who were rallying for him to win the Ballon d’Or earlier this month.

His performances, after all, have been sensational over the past year including goals in the UEFA Champions League and Spanish Super Cup finals and a pioneering role in the team’s run to the league title last season.

This term, he has been relatively subdued but still influential on the field amidst Real Madrid’s struggles in the final third.

Gakpo and Vinicius will go head to head at the end of this month in the UEFA Champions League when Los Blancos will travel to Anfield to lock horns with Liverpool.

Needless to say, it will be a fascinating clash between two European giants and both players will look to leave their mark on the result.

Meanwhile, the Liverpool forward even asked to name the best passer in football history, to which he chose Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos.
