Ancelotti seems to have ‘forgotten’ Real Madrid midfield talent once more – report

Arda Guler’s situation at Real Madrid has been a hot topic of discussion in recent weeks, especially after witnessing his special performances with Turkey in the international break.

The young midfielder’s special performances over the past two weeks were expected to help improve his situation under Carlo Ancelotti but if last night’s game is anything to go by, the trajectory is downhill.

Despite being frustrated by his team’s performance last night and the blatant lack of creativity in midfield, Ancelotti kept Guler on the bench throughout.

Considering that even Dani Ceballos got minutes on the night only goes to show that the manager trusts experience over Guler’s versatility on any given day, though reports suggest it had directly to do with the latter’s workload for his national team.

A helpless situation?

As revealed in a recent update by SPORT, Ancelotti appears to have ‘forgotten’ the youngster completely from his options and the teenager’s situation does not appear close to improving.

In Real Madrid’s last five games, the youngster has played just 44 minutes and did not even come off the bench against both Atletico Madrid and Celta Vigo.

Considering that Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona are next, it is highly unlikely that he sees any action in those games either.

While the 19-year-old is indeed a very versatile option who can play both in attack or the midfield, he is ironically unable to break into the team in either department largely due to Ancelotti’s conservative approach.

If the conditions continue as such with no improvement, big questions will be asked of his future in the upcoming transfer windows.

In seven games for Real Madrid in La Liga so far, the youngster has created three big chances and averages 1.3 key passes per game. However, he averages just 37 minutes per game.
