Vinicius Jr.’s heroics against Borussia Dortmund pioneered Real Madrid’s comeback win in the UEFA Champions League.
The Brazilian is still the club’s single-most important player despite the arrival of Kylian Mbappe and he continues to prove why in every game.
Later this month, the Brazilian star is set to pick up his first Ballon d’Or award for the sensational run he enjoyed last season including a UCL final goal against Dortmund and several pundits have come out justifying his case as the rightful winner.
Pele’s son speaks on Vinicius
Speaking to the media recently, Brazil legend Pele’s son Joshua spoke on how the Real Madrid star has many similarities with his father and how he saw him to be continuing the legacy his father left behind.
“Vinicius has similarities with my father,” he began, as revealed by El Larguero.
“He is a player who is representing, very well, the history that my father left in the world of football,” he added.
When asked about Vinicius’ chances of winning the Ballon d’Or, he said: “I would like him to win the Ballon d’Or.”
It is not the first time that Vini Jr has been compared to Pele, for it was only earlier this week that the club’s director of external relations and legend Emilio Butragueno made a very similar statement.
“For those of us who love football it justifies coming here to the Bernabeu and seeing how a player offers you this play that provokes many emotions, including admiration,” he said after admitting that Vinicius’ third goal reminded him of Pele.
The youngster will next be seen in action at the weekend against Barcelona in what is a highly anticipated El Clasico. After all, both teams are coming off massive UCL wins over elite German opposition.
