Real Madrid endured a night to forget on Saturday as they were mauled 4-0 by FC Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Carlo Ancelotti & co. were given a solid hammering by their arch-rivals, who even extended their lead at the top of the La Liga table to six points.
More woes for Real Madrid
If the humiliating defeat was not enough, MARCA now reports that Real Madrid defensive duo Antonio Rudiger and Lucas Vazquez finished the game with muscular problems.
The German centre-back appears to have suffered the worst with muscular problems, while the veteran right-back also ended the match experiencing discomfort.
Both players are expected to undergo medical examinations to determine the severity of their injuries and whether either will be sidelined in the coming days.
Injuries continue to plague Real Madrid’s defence, with Thibaut Courtois, David Alaba, and Dani Carvajal all unavailable already.
Given the circumstances, losing their only recognised right-back in Vazquez (although Eder Militao can also play in that position) along with one of their starting central defenders could pose an even more serious problem for Carlo Ancelotti.
Real Madrid are set to face Valencia, AC Milan, and Osasuna up next before the international break and they will now be sweating over the fitness of both Rudiger and Vazquez.
If either of them are injured, the manager could turn to youngsters like Jesus Fortea and Jacobo Ramon to fill the void.
