Former Parma and Newcastle United forward Faustino Asprilla is backing captain at the Copa America.
The Colombian spoke to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via , in an interview published in yesterday’s print edition.
This summer, Inter’s Martinez has been the main main for at the Copa America.
The 26-year-old has chipped in with four goals so far. He failed to find the back of the net against in the quarterfinals, but scored in every one of the Albiceleste’s group stage matches.
Martinez and his teammates will take on in the semifinals on Tuesday evening.
The Albiceleste have already beaten Canada once at the tournament. They did so in the first group stage match, which was the opener for the tournament.

As far as the Copa America, former forward Asprilla said that “Argentina remain the strongest team.”
“Lautaro is very impressive,” the Colombian went on of Argentina’s talisman. “He always scores.”
