Injury update: Real Madrid defensive duo will be available vs Real Sociedad

After a small break, Real Madrid started their preparations for Saturday’s La Liga encounter against Real Sociedad today.

Carlo Ancelotti worked with the players that he had at his disposal, with Luka Modric the only star returning to the club after finishing his national team duties, with more expected to arrive tomorrow.

Mendy, Vallejo fit and available

Heading into the game, Real Madrid are sweating over the fitness of several players with the squad being hit by a spate of injuries.

However, according to a report from journalist Arancha Rodriguez, Ancelotti will be able to count on two defenders who have been struggling with fitness issues in recent days in Ferland Mendy and Jesus Vallejo.

Both players trained normally with the group today and are expected to be available against Real Sociedad if nothing changes.

The issue was never serious and it was always expected that the left-back would recover in time for Saturday’s trip to San Sebastian.

Meanwhile, Vallejo has been bogged down by intermittent fitness problems since pre-season. In fact, the 27-year-old was not part of the matchday squad for Real Madrid’s last three games with a muscle issue.

However, the Spaniard, back at the club after a year on loan at Granada, is said to be fit and ready to face Sociedad, with a starting berth on the horizon amidst injury woes.

What about the rest?

As per the report, the trio of Jude Bellingham, Eder Militao, and Aurelien Tchouameni worked alone in training today. As such, their availability on Saturday could be touch-and-go.

Meanwhile, Dani Ceballos, David Alaba, and Eduardo Camavinga are still recovering from their injuries and are definitively ruled out.
