Just in: Real Madrid defender misses training due to an overload

In a concerning development, Real Madrid defender Jesus Vallejo missed today’s training session due to an overload, reports Arancha Rodriguez.

Vallejo is back at Real Madrid after spending the last season away on loan at Granada. Even though it was initially expected that he could be offloaded again, the Spaniard seems set to continue at the club.

Considering that Real Madrid are short on numbers in defence, it makes sense for the Merengues to keep hold of Vallejo.

However, his fitness problems are starting to become a matter of concern. After all, the centre-half had to deal with some physical issues during the pre-season tour as well.

Now, Vallejo is understood to be suffering from an overload yet again and has not trained with the rest of the group today.

As to what it means with regard to his availability for Sunday evening’s La Liga encounter against Real Valladolid still remains to be seen.

As things stand, Carlo Ancelotti has only two senior centre-backs in Eder Militao and Antonio Rudiger.

The Real Madrid boss can always turn to Aurelien Tchouameni as a makeshift central defender while young Jacobo Ramon is also an option after being registered in La Liga for this season.

Irrespective of that, Ancelotti and Real Madrid will be hoping that Vallejo’s problems go away soon, considering that David Alaba is still a couple of months away from a return.
