With Real Madrid scouring the market for a new right-back, Liverpool superstar Trent Alexander-Arnold has become the priority target.
After all, the 26-year-old England international is in the final year of his contract at Anfield and talks over a renewal are yet to progress.
With there being a chance to sign Alexander-Arnold for free in the summer, Real Madrid are treating him as a priority target and have already made contacts with his camp.
Alexander-Arnold says yes
Reports last night suggested that Liverpool had started to lose any hopes of renewing their homegrown talent.
Building on that, Spanish journalist Ramon Alvarez now reports that Alexander-Arnold has already said yes to joining Real Madrid.
Indeed, the report states that there is a full agreement between the Liverpool ace and Los Blancos for him to come to the Santiago Bernabeu once his contract expires.
Nothing has been signed at this point, though, with the agreement being of a verbal nature.
If true, Real Madrid will have bagged another top player on a free transfer following similar operations to sign David Alaba, Antonio Rudiger, and Kylian Mbappe.
Given that Dani Carvajal is out injured for the season, Real Madrid could even try and negotiate with Liverpool to bring Alexander-Arnold to the club in January itself.
However, as per the report, while that move is not entirely ruled out at this point, such a move would be complicated to pull off.
If there is no move in January, Real Madrid plan on continuing with Lucas Vazquez as their primary right-back with Eder Militao filling in as backup whenever required.
But, it appears that things are moving in the right direction as far as the Spanish champions’ pursuit of Alexander-Arnold is concerned.
