Real Madrid ace Kylian Mbappe has found himself in the headlines over the past couple of weeks for all the wrong reasons – his being left out of the France squad, the trip to Sweden, and the controversy that has followed.
The 25-year-old superstar has stayed quiet amidst all the media maelstrom surrounding his trip to Stockholm and a rape incident that is being investigated at the hotel he stayed at.
But earlier today, Mbappe gave a short interview to Real Madrid’s official media channels after he was named the club’s Player of the Month for September.
After a rather slow start to life in Madrid, the French forward picked up the pace in September and found the back of the net six times in five matches – leading to him winning the award.
Speaking to the club media, Mbappe thanked the support from Real Madrid fans while stressing that he aims to keep winning matches and this award regularly.
“I am very happy and grateful to the Real Madrid fans and it is a pleasure to be the player of the month. The most important thing is to win matches throughout this month and to be able to win this award again,” said Mbappe.
Looking forward, Real Madrid play Celta Vigo on Saturday before taking on Borussia Dortmund and FC Barcelona in a hugely important week for the team.
“Now we have three very important games coming up and we want to win them. The team and I are ready and I hope we do well for all the Real Madrid fans,” said Mbappe, looking at what is next for him and the team.
