Fabio Vieira’s family

Born in the parish of Argoncilhe in Santa Maria da Feira and the son of construction worker Carlos and maid Paula, Fábio began playing at a young age in the playgrounds of the Carvalhal Kindergarten, where he studied from the age of three to six, and later entered the school’s primary school. Fábio was already noted for his skill and leadership at the school, and spent most of his free time organizing the teams.

He joined Argoncilhe FC when he was about five years old, and then went to Feirense when he was seven, where he played in a World Cup in Vila Real de Santo Antônio in the Algarve in 2008, where he stood out and was watched by two clubs, who wanted to know about Fábio’s situation in order to take him. One of these clubs was Benfica , but as Fábio had preferred Porto since he was a child, he himself declined Benfica’s invitation.

Born in Santa Maria da Feira , Aveiro district , Vieira played nine matches as Porto ‘s juniors won the 2018–19 UEFA Youth League , and scored to open a 3–1 victory against Chelsea in the final in Nyon on 29 April. [4] On 24 October 2018, in a group game, he was sent off for two yellow cards in a 2–1 defeat at Lokomotiv Moscow .

Vieira made his senior debut for Porto B on 24 February 2019, coming on as a 57th-minute substitute for João Mário in a 1–0 away defeat to Arouca in the LigaPro . Six months and one day later, he scored for the first time from the penalty spot in a 3–1 away win over Farense .

Vieira played his first competitive match with the main team on 10 June 2020, playing 19 minutes in a 1–0 Primeira Liga home defeat against Marítimo . Again from the bench, he scored his first goal in the competition on 5 July to help the hosts beat B-SAD 5–0, and went on to make eight appearances by the end of the season for the eventual champions.

On 27 October 2020, in just his second appearance in the UEFA Champions League , Vieira scored in a 2–0 win against Olympiacos in the group stage after starting at the Estádio do Dragão . On 20 March 2022, his 32nd-minute goal decided the local derby at Boavista . He scored his first league double two weeks later, his team’s first and second goals in a 3–0 home win over Santa Clara .

Vieira found more space in the first team during the 2021–22 campaign , particularly after impressing at the 2021 UEFA European Under-21 Championship , where he was named player of the tournament, providing two hat-tricks of assists against Moreirense and B-SAD and totalling 14 – the second-best in the league – and six goals to help his side to a domestic double of the league and Portuguese Cup .

On 17 June 2022, Porto reached an agreement with the Premier League club Arsenal signed Vieira for a fee of €35 million (£29.9 million) plus €5 million (£4.4 million) in add-ons. Four days later, a long-term contract was agreed. Having arrived injured, he made his league debut on 4 September, replacing Albert Sambi Lokonga in the 74th minute of a 3–1 defeat at Manchester United . His first start came four days later in a 2–1 win over FC Zürich in the UEFA Europa League group stage , and he scored his first goal on 18 September to wrap up a 3–0 league win at Brentford .

On 6 August 2023, Vieira scored the decisive penalty in the penalty shootout as Arsenal defeated Manchester City in the FA Community Shield after a 1–1 draw at Wembley Stadium . On 11 November, he was sent off with a straight red card after a dangerous challenge on Burnley ‘s Josh Brownhill in a 3–1 home win, where he featured for 24 minutes on the bench, then spent a long period on the sidelines with a groin injury .

Fabio Vieira’s parents

Fábio Vieira’s parents are Carlos Vítor Vieira and Paula Vieira

Father of Fabio Vieira

Carlos Vítor Vieira became more involved in football at the time when Fábio began to progress at the FC Porto Academy.

The proud father has taken many hours off from his construction job (both day and night) to take his son to games. Fabio owes a lot to his father, a man he considers one of the important pillars of his life.

Today, Carlos Vieira is no longer an expert in the Portuguese construction industry. This is due to the need to manage some aspects of his son’s career.

Fabio Vieira’s mother

From the moment Paula’s son warned her about not having a Plan B, she knew that fate was at stake. Since then, Fabio Vieira’s mother has followed her son wherever football takes him. Here is Paula Vieira, together with her son, after he won his first national trophy with FC Porto.

Fabio Vieira’s grandfather

Though dead and buried, his grandson would forever adore him. In Fabio Vieira’s family, his grandfather is arguably the first football player. Fabio’s biological father (Carlos) never played football. His grandfather (who died of cancer) played for Águias de Pereira, a team that played in the regional championships of Portugal.

Fábio Vieira’s paternal grandfather was a fervent Benfica fan. He liked Fábio a lot and promised that he would go to Dragão to watch him play when he became a professional. Unfortunately, this did not happen because his grandfather died. That is why Fábio was very emotional on the day of his debut.
