Marc Guiu’s family

Marc Guiu Paz , or simply Marc Guiu, is a Spanish footballer who plays as a center forward . He currently plays for Chelsea .

Born in Granollers , Barcelona , Catalonia , Guiu began his career with Barcelona fan club Penya Barcelonista Sant Celoni in La Liga . He joined Barcelona for the 2013–14 season and progressed through their La Masia academy , and was first called up to the senior squad in June 2023 ahead of pre-season games against Celta de Vigo and Japanese opponents Vissel Kobe . Guiu made his unofficial debut for Barcelona in the latter game, replacing Robert Lewandowski at half-time.

On 11 October 2023, he was again called up to the senior squad for a La Liga match against Granada , although he did not feature in the game. That same month, he was named by English newspaper The Guardian as one of the best players born in 2006 in the world. On 22 October, Guiu made his professional debut, starting as a substitute and coming on in the 34th minute of the second half, scoring the winning goal within 23 seconds with his second touch in a 1–0 win over Athletic Bilbao . At 17 years and 291 days, he became the youngest and fastest debutant to score for Barcelona in La Liga.

Guiu made his UEFA Champions League debut three days later in a 2–1 win over Shakhtar Donetsk . He scored his first goal in the competition and his second of the season on 13 December in a 3–2 loss against Royal Antwerp .

On 1 July 2024, Guiu joined Premier League club Chelsea for €6 million. He signed a five-year contract.

Barcelona youth coach Iván Carrasco describes Guiu as a “classic ‘9’, a specialist in the box who exploits his physical strength”. He has good high-ball play, pace, strength and work-rate. Spanish football expert Guillem Balagué has described Guiu as a striker known for being “most efficient in the box”.
