The onset of the international break has once again seen varied reports published about the future of Real Madrid starlet Arda Guler which has been under a cloud of doubt for a while now.
The Turkish youngster has found it difficult to enjoy the prominence he deserves under Carlo Ancelotti once more this season. While his share of minutes has indeed improved, reports suggested that he and his entourage feel he is entitled to more.
Unsurprisingly, it was not long before rumours of Guler’s departure sparked in the media with outlets claiming that Fenerbahce were interested in loaning the player back.
However, updates later in the week confirmed that the teenage sensation prioritised succeeding in Madrid and that a departure was ruled out.
Turkish NT manager speaks out
Addressing the media during the ongoing hiatus from club football, Turkey national team manager Vincenzo Montella spoke on Guler’s situation at Real Madrid and said he hoped the youngster’s prominence would increase in the coming days.
“We cannot decide on Arda Guler’s future. Real Madrid will decide. I hope our players play more, but you know that playing for Real Madrid means being in a big competition,” he said as revealed by Tivibu Spor.
So far this season, the young sensation has started just three league games for Los Blancos and averages 37 minutes per game in each of his seven outings in La Liga.
While a lot has been said about tensions between Guler and Ancelotti contributing to his reduced play time, the midfielder confirmed in a recent press conference that all was well and that he was focused on staying at the Spanish capital.
“There are no problems between me and Ancelotti. I am getting more minutes this year. Everything is fine.”
“Of course, I want to play every game, but that is normal. There are no problems,” he added.
