If Dani Carvajal’s ACL knock was not enough, Real Madrid have confirmed the injury of another star player.
It appears Carvajal wasn’t the only casualty from Saturday’s contest against Villarreal, as Vinicius Junior, too, looked in discomfort and had to be taken off.
Real Madrid confirm Vinicius’ injury
Now, in an official statement, Real Madrid have confirmed the nature of Vinicius’ injury, which could keep him on the sidelines for a brief period.
As per the club, the Brazilian international has picked up a neck injury and rest is required to optimally recover from this knock.
Fortunately, the forward has a couple of weeks to recover, due to the second international break of the season kicking in.
Vinicius unlikely to play in international break
It is unlikely Vinicius Junior will participate in the upcoming international matches for Brazil, thereby missing crucial matches against Chile and Peru.
It must be noted that Brazil have performed poorly in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and must win these two matches at all costs.
Vinicius’ absence, therefore, could prove to be a major blow for the Selecao, as they desperately look to turn things around, having won just one of their five matches.
Real Madrid, for their part, are awaiting further tests being carried in order to get a better idea of Vinicius Junior’s injury and how many matches he will miss.
The club will be hoping the forward recovers his fitness during the international break and becomes available for the next match against Celta Vigo on October 19.
