William Saliba’s Family
William Saliba is a young French defender who has attracted a lot of interest in the world of football. He was born on March 24, 2001 in Bondy, France. Saliba is known for his technical, physical and tactical qualities that made him stand out from an early age in the youth ranks.
Saliba began his career in the youth ranks of FC Montfermeil and later joined AS Saint-Étienne, a club renowned for developing young talent. Digging into his ancestral roots, we found out that his paternal surname “Saliba” is predominantly of Lebanese descent. This is almost similar to that of Jordan and Andre Ayew, whose parents (his mother) are from Lebanon. Along with Stephan El Shaarawy (during his prime) and Kylian Mbappe, Saliba is one of the footballers of Arab descent who are making waves in Europe.
Although no official validation has been made about his father’s lineage or ethnicity. However, we strongly believe that William Saliba’s father is of Lebanese heritage.
On the other hand, the footballer has West African maternal ancestry. William Saliba’s mother is of pure Cameroonian descent – similar to Erik Choupo-Moting’s father.
As we saw earlier in her childhood photo, which shows her mother having black skin — a clear proof of her African heritage.
The role of Kylian Mbappe’s father in William Saliba’s life
In recent years, Bondy has provided a good number of elite football stars.
Many of them, including William Saliba, found it easy to immerse themselves in the world of football, thanks to their upbringing in the northeastern suburbs of Paris – Bondy.
When he turned six, the young lad started playing street football. Luckily, his style caught the eye of Kylian Mbappe’s father, Wilfred.
Knowing full well that Saliba had the potential to become a great star, Wilfred took him in.
So he enrolled Saliba at the Bondy Academy, where Kylian Mbappe received his first football lessons.
