Real Madrid ask Liverpool superstar not to sign renewal, current contract expires in 2025

In recent days, Real Madrid have raised a few eyebrows in the transfer market by reportedly expressing their desire to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold for free in 2025.

Real Madrid boast the services of Dani Carvajal, who was arguably Europe’s best right-back this past season. However, the Spaniard’s age, coupled with a lack of viable alternatives raise long-term concerns for the position.

Keeping that in mind, Real Madrid are keen on the services of Alexander-Arnold, whose contract at Liverpool expires in 2025.

Real Madrid ask Trent not to sign a renewal

According to Diario SPORT, Real Madrid want to avoid another Leny Yoro situation and have asked the defender not to sign a renewal at Liverpool.

The reigning Spanish champions are ready to sign the Englishman on a free transfer and offer him the opportunity to become Carvajal’s long-term replacement.

Alexander-Arnold, for his part, has appeared quite reluctant to continue at Liverpool, especially following the departure of Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool’s new coach Arne Slot, though, is desperately keen on keeping hold of the defender’s services. He is expected to hold further talks with the player in the coming days.

In fact, Liverpool are even willing to hand Alexander-Arnold the opportunity to become a vice-captain, should he renew his contract at Anfield.

Real Madrid, though, will make the job far more difficult for Liverpool. The club will try to convince the Englishman to stay another season at Anfield and move to Santiago Bernabeu for a free transfer.

Signing Alexander-Arnold next season could make a world of sense for Real Madrid, as they are more likely to let go of Lucas Vazquez next year while Carvajal’s contract at Santiago Bernabeu also expires at the end of next season.
