Real Madrid captain supports call for players’ strike – ‘We have to raise our voices’

Real Madrid have been pulling off wins from unconvincing performances this season. These are early days but the schedule ahead is gruelling and beyond hectic.

This season, in theory, may well become the team’s most hectic season in history with Los Blancos participating in as many as seven competitions.

With a game scheduled virtually every three days this year, players are seriously affected with no organisation batting an eye towards their welfare.

Unsurprisingly, the likes of Rodri and Jules Kounde have hinted at players going on a strike to raise a voice for their welfare.

Carvajal supports a strike

Speaking to the media in a recent event, Carvajal lashed out at the hectic schedule of the players and how it was difficult to cope with the same.

“Players going on strike is a possibility, we are not taken into account. We have to raise our voices,” he said (h/t COPE), hinting towards the extreme step and extending support to the rising idea.

The Real Madrid second captain then admitted that the team was performing below par but expressed optimism over the team returning to the highest level soon.

“It’s true that we may not be performing at our best level but once we do, we will be unstoppable,” he said, as quoted by MARCA.

Commenting on Toni Kroos who left the team last year after announcing his retirement, the veteran defender said,

“Toni Kroos? It is clear that his departure has had an impact, he is an irreplaceable player.”

Finally, the Euro 2024 winner gave his two cents on the Ballon d’Or race and assessed his chances of winning it.

“The truth is that I think it is one of the most disputed Ballon d’Ors of recent years and surely the one who wins it will be well deserved.”

“And if it can be me, the better,” he added.
