Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies addressed his contractual situation with Bayern Munich, expressing that he is not focused on this issue at the moment.
Instead, he is prioritising staying fit and continuing to perform for Bayern Munich, aiming to help the club win titles.
However, despite his public statements, the relationship between Davies and Bayern seems strained, and Real Madrid is keeping a close eye on developments.
“I’m not focused on that now. My focus is to stay healthy and to play the game with the club I’m with right now. I just wanna help Bayern to win,” said the Canadia as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
Relationship is strained
A few days ago, Davies’ agent, Nedal Huoseh, criticised Bayern Munich for pressuring his client to decide on a new contract. He affirmed that Bayern have presented Davies with an ultimatum—either sign a new deal or face being sold.
Huoseh voiced his concerns, calling the situation unfair, stating that they will only decide their next move at the end of the season when more clarity is available.
He also expressed frustration that Davies is now under scrutiny, simply because they have not rushed into a decision.
In the meantime, a lot has been said about Davies’ future including the fact that Real Madrid already have a verbal agreement with the Canadian international. However, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have not yet reached an agreement on the transfer fee.
Idea situation for Real Madrid
If Davies does not renew his contract with Bayern by January, it is expected that Real Madrid will intensify their efforts to bring the left-back to the Santiago Bernabeu.
This situation plays perfectly into Real Madrid’s hands. If Bayern are forced to sell Davies due to his reluctance to sign a new deal, Real Madrid will be ready to swoop in.
The next few months will be crucial, with Bayern Munich likely to push for clarity on Davies’ future before the summer window opens, giving Real Madrid an ideal opportunity to secure one of the world’s top defenders.
