Real Madrid duo closing in on full recovery, return not far away – report

A flurry of injuries have come Real Madrid’s way at the doorstep of the latest international break with Eder Militao, Vinicius Jr, Kylian Mbappe and others suffering fitness setbacks.

The new hurdles leave Carlo Ancelotti with a crippled squad to choose from with many players even missing the ongoing international break and staying back to work on their fitness.

The management hopes for many of the short-term injured players to return in time for the restart of club football.

Melchor Ruiz now provides an update on two players who have been injured for the long term.

Nearing a return

As revealed by the Spanish journalist, Brahim Diaz and David Alaba will not make it in time to return to action after the ongoing international break.

However, both players are working hard and making good progress in their fitness and are close to returning in what comes as a massive boost for the Italian manager.

Alaba, who has been out for close to a year through an ACL injury, is in the final stretch of his recovery and will bring much-needed depth to the centre-back position once he returns in the coming months.

In a season where Ancelotti has had to rely on Eder Militao and Antonio Rudiger as his only natural centre-backs, Alaba’s return will be a big moment.

Diaz, meanwhile, was injured during Real Madrid’s win against Real Sociedad earlier this season and was expected to face a few months out.

The 25-year-old’s recovery, however, has been going better than expected and he could thus feature for the club very soon.

The Moroccan star will bring back dynamism to Real Madrid’s attack and will come as a huge boost given the team’s relative struggles in front of goal. After all, he proved to be a handy option off the bench last season and will be raring for more.
