With the winter transfer market nearing, Real Madrid starlet Arda Guler’s name is again rising in prominence in the Spanish media.
The Turkish youngster who snubbed Barcelona to sign for Carlo Ancelotti’s side is after all keen on playing more than he has been at present.
Touted as one of world football’s brightest talents and proving it time and time again for club and country, he has found it difficult to break into the starting lineup for reasons unknown.
Cadena SER brings to light that Guler’s topic is not only creating ripples in the external media but also between the president and the manager at Real Madrid.
A complete disagreement
As revealed by the outlet, the Real Madrid hierarchy, including president Florentino Perez and Carlo Ancelotti do not see eye to eye over the situation of the Turkish phenom or where he is best placed on the field.
From the president’s point of view, Guler is underutilised and should play more as a central midfielder.
The coach, however, feels that the player is being given as many minutes as he deserves and feels he is better placed as an attacking midfielder playing closer to the opposition box.
So far this season, Guler averages just 37 minutes in his seven La Liga games and has been a creative spark in the final third with his defence-splitting passes.
Ancelotti, however, reportedly feels he does not contribute much in defence and is thus keeping him out of the starting XI.
While rumours of a possible departure on loan have made the rounds in the media, the youngster is said to be focused on succeeding in the white colours come what may. It thus remains to be seen how the situation evolves after the international break.
