Real Madrid keeping close tabs on Copa Libertadores as 2024 Intercontinental Cup lurks

Real Madrid have faced a challenging period recently, but the team remains focused on their objectives and despite the difficulties, it is essential to recognise that they are on the verge of winning an international tournament.

As the current champions of the UEFA Champions League, Real Madrid have automatically qualified for the final of the Intercontinental Cup, set to take place on December 18 in Doha, Qatar.

This tournament, newly organised by FIFA, features six teams that represent the champions of each confederation from around the world.

Although Real Madrid’s opponent has not yet been officially determined, it is highly likely that they will face the winner of the 2024 Copa Libertadores, provided the tournament progresses without unexpected results.

The Copa Libertadores, a prestigious South American competition governed by Conmebol, is currently in its concluding stages. The final will be a showdown between Atletico Mineiro and Botafogo.

Once the Copa Libertadores concludes, the tournament will shift to its final phases in Doha. There will be two preliminary playoff matches before the final, where Real Madrid will directly enter the competition.

On December 11, the winner of the Copa Libertadores, whether it be Botafogo or Atletico Mineiro, will take on the Mexican side Pachuca, who are the champions of the CONCACAF region.

The victor of this encounter will then face Al-Ahly on December 14. The winner of this semi-final will secure a place in the final against Real Madrid.

Looking ahead, it seems that the champion of the Libertadores, regardless of whether it is Atletico Mineiro or Botafogo, is poised to take on the mighty Merengues.

This matchup promises to be a significant event, as Real Madrid aims to add yet another prestigious title to their impressive collection, showcasing their status as one of the world’s elite football clubs.
