Real Madrid out-of-favour youngster attracting interest from three countries

It has been over four years since Real Madrid signed Reinier Jesus from Flamengo, but the attacking midfielder is yet to make his first-team debut for the club.

Having arrived in January 2020 for a fee of €30 million, the Brazilian talent spent time with Castilla initially before going on a two-year loan spell to Borussia Dortmund which was a disaster.

Reinier then had season-long stints at Girona and Frosinone, both of which did not pan out well and now he is back at Real Madrid with his future up in the air.

The Brazilian youngster is not a part of the first-team setup under Carlo Ancelotti. And even though he did pre-season with Castilla, Raul Gonzalez does not seem to count on him.

Interest from three countries

With Reinier destined for a departure from Real Madrid this summer, most likely on another loan deal, Mario Cortegana of The Athletic reports that he has suitors from three different countries.

Indeed, the 22-year-old attacking midfielder is on the radars of English club Norwich City, who are exploring the possibility of a loan deal with an option to buy. However, there are some differences to be resolved before that move can take off.

Meanwhile, Spanish second-division sides, Tenerife and Eibar, have asked about Reinier’s situation as well in the hope of signing him on loan.

However, in case of the out-of-favour youngster joining any of these clubs, Real Madrid would have to bear a large part of his salary.

Furthermore, clubs from his homeland, Brazil, are also said to be interested, although Reinier has previously ruled out a return to the country at this stage in his career.

The 22-year-old is contracted with Real Madrid until 2026 and even though he looked good in pre-season with Castilla, he will not be a part of their opening game of the new season against Marbella tomorrow.

All parties involved will be aiming for a quick resolution on the matter.
