Real Madrid will enter the market for a new right-back next summer as they prepare a succession plan for veteran superstar Dani Carvajal.
The Spanish international’s current contract expires in 2025 and although a renewal is on the cards, he will turn 33 years old in January and will slowly need to be phased out.
Furthermore, Lucas Vazquez’s contract expires in 2025 as well and as such, Real Madrid will need to reinforce the right-back position.
Diogo Dalot on the agenda
Previous reports have suggested that Real Madrid have their sights on Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose contract expires in 2025.
However, now, according to an exclusive report from GIVEMESPORT, Real Madrid have also identified Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot as a target for the summer transfer window of next year.
Dalot has been at Old Trafford for six years now and despite a slow start to life in England, has grown into a mainstay in the team, especially under Erik ten Hag.
In fact, given his importance in the side, Manchester United handed the 25-year-old a long-term contract until 2028 last year, with the deal even containing an option for a further one-year extension.
But, the Premier League bigwigs might face a challenge in convincing Dalot to stay if Real Madrid come calling next year.
The Merengues are said to have been left heavily impressed by the 25-year-old Portuguese international’s performances last season, especially considering how subpar Manchester United were.
The idea is for Real Madrid’s scouting department to continue monitoring Dalot over the coming months before they decide whether to make a concrete approach for him come the summer of 2025 or not.
