Real Madrid president prioritises move for €130m-rated Man City superstar in 2025

Real Madrid could make some late moves before the summer transfer window closes thanks to the impending exit of midfielder Dani Ceballos.

Having let go of Nico Paz and Mario Martin already, losing Ceballos weakens the depth in the squad, especially with Eduardo Camavinga currently out injured.

As such, a new midfielder could be signed in the next 36 hours or so, with reports pointing at a potential late swoop for Manchester City superstar Rodri.

Real Madrid want Rodri, but for 2025

However, according to MARCA, Real Madrid have no plans of signing Rodri from Manchester City this summer given that there will be complications in closing such a big operation this late in the window.

But, Duncan Castles insists that Real Madrid plan to go after Rodri in the summer of 2025, with club president Florentino Perez prioritising his signing for next year.

Rodri, 28, has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the game currently and has tasted consistent success with Manchester City and Spain in recent years.

The former Atletico Madrid midfielder has been a key presence in Pep Guardiola’s in the past few seasons while he also played an important role in La Roja’s UEFA Euro 2024 triumph this summer.

Reports earlier this window suggested that Real Madrid could move for Rodri following Toni Kroos’ retirement but nothing came of it.

And while a late move for him this window is ruled out, the reigning champions of Spain and Europe intend to go after Rodri’s signing next year.

However, Manchester City are working hard to tie the midfielder down to a new contract even though he still has three years left on his current deal with the club.

So, to sum up, Real Madrid may sign a midfielder before this summer window closes, but it will not be Rodri. But the Manchester City superstar is a subject of interest for the summer of 2025.
