Arda Guler’s future at Real Madrid has been under a cloud of doubt for a while now, especially given how the player reportedly feels undervalued at the club.
Despite making a complete recovery from a gutting injury last season and proving himself time and time again for both club and country, the Turkish phenom still does not see a good share of minutes under Carlo Ancelotti.
Given his low placement on the manager’s pecking order, rumours sparked earlier this week that the player is considering a departure from Real Madrid. His former club Fenerbahce were touted as a possible destination.
As revealed earlier today, Jose Mourinho was said to be interested in the Real Madrid star’s profile and considering bringing him to Turkey on a short-term deal.
The latest update
Now according to reports from Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, however, the whole story of Mourinho and Fenerbahce trying to lure the player back is false.
Guler is completely focused on the project at hand and is happy at Real Madrid. He is determined to succeed at the club of his dreams no matter what the cost and will thus fight it out against all the odds.
So far this season, Guler has participated in seven games for Real Madrid and started on three occasions. However, he averages just 37 minutes per match and most of his game-time has come in fringe contributions off the bench.
Guler and his entourage believe he deserves better, especially given the conspicuous impact he delivers on games when called upon. It remains to be seen if his situation improves after the international break.
