Last night was a chaotic one as Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid battled hard at the Civitas Metropolitano, before ending up sharing the spoils as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
The result was not ideal for Real Madrid as they spurned an excellent chance to close the gap to league leaders Barcelona, who had lost to Osasuna on Saturday.
The situation was made worse as the Merengues were dealt a double injury scare as both Thibaut Courtois and Fran Garcia suffered problems during the course of the game.
Fran Garcia ‘OK’, training normally
But, now, according to journalist Guillermo Rai of The Athletic, Fran Garcia is ‘OK’ and is training normally today, which will come as a relief for Real Madrid.
The Spanish left-back came on as a substitute in the dying stages of the match and was on the receiving end of a horrific tackle from Marcos Llorente, which led to the Atletico Madrid man receiving a straight red card.
After the game, reports emerged stating that Garcia had sustained a blow to his Achilles tendon due to the tackle from Llorente and would undergo tests today to determine his condition.
However, as it turns out, there is no problem with the former Rayo Vallecano defender, who is understood to be fine and training normally.
It would suggest that the 25-year-old will be fit and available to face Lille in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.
The same cannot be said about Courtois, though, and test results are awaited for the Belgian, whose absence due to injury would come as a blow for Real Madrid.
