Real Madrid set to debut their new away kit in AC Milan friendly

With the official start of the season just a fortnight away, there is tangible excitement around Real Madrid.

After all, Los Blancos are not only the defending European and Spanish champions but have also added match-winners in Kylian Mbappe and Endrick to their already rock-solid squad.

Later today, the Merengues will take on AC Milan in their first big pre-season friendly in Chicago. While several big names will be unavailable, it will be the world’s first glimpse of Real Madrid ahead of the new season.

A special kit

As revealed by Melchor Ruiz of COPE, Real Madrid will wear their new away kit for the upcoming clash, and thus, debut the new jersey. The goalkeeper, meanwhile, will wear black.

Adidas and Real Madrid opted to go for an unconventional colour with the away kit for the 2024-25 campaign, opting for orange with black details.

The jersey unsurprisingly features the club’s crest and the manufacturer’s logo along with the traditional Emirates logo on the front. Notably, however, it also features metallic blue details and boasts of boldness.

Sales expected to boom

Real Madrid may have taken a risk by opting for an unconventional colour for the away kit. It was, however, a well-calculated risk.

Jude Bellingham’s arrival last summer helped the Merengues’ kit sales amplify last season, and the Englishman’s strong showing has only improved demand for his jerseys.

The arrival of Kylian Mbappe, moreover, is expected to send the jersey sales through the roof. Given the player’s popularity and stature in the game, his influence will negate any detrimental effect the altered colour can bring.

With Real Madrid providing the orange kit its debut later tonight, one can expect its sales to improve significantly in the coming days.
