Real Madrid star likely to stay at club despite exit links throughout the summer

After a remarkable 2023/24 campaign, Andriy Lunin has kept Real Madrid in suspense throughout the summer so far.

Earlier in the summer, many expected the Ukrainian international to leave the Santiago Bernabeu in favour of a new challenge elsewhere.

Although Lunin was not averse to continuing at Real Madrid, the club were not in a position to guarantee him the game-time he wanted. This led to intense speculation over his exit, with the goalkeeper receiving offers from several clubs across Europe.

Lunin, though, opted to stay put throughout the summer, despite the pressure from Real Madrid. And now, with just 11 days left before the transfer market comes to a close, Lunin’s future is starting to become a lot clearer.

A recent report from Mundo Deportivo has offered a fresh update on Lunin’s future, suggesting the Ukrainian may end up staying at the club.

Lunin, for his part, was linked with a move to Arsenal and Chelsea among other clubs this summer.

But Arsenal appear to be going for Joan Garcia while Chelsea have six registered goalkeepers in the team.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, may not have too many options available in the market to replace Lunin this summer.

The club were holding on to the idea of bringing Kepa Arrizabalaga back, but it may no longer be an option for Los Blancos.

Therefore, everything points out Andriy Lunin will continue at Real Madrid this season. His current deal at Santiago Bernabeu expires in 2025, meaning Los Blancos could run the risk of losing the Ukrainian on a free transfer next year.
