Real Madrid to face Albacete in a behind closed doors friendly before US tour

With less than a month left before the start of the new season, Real Madrid have kickstarted their preparations at the Valdebebas.

While a few first-team stars are missing in action in light of an extended summer break, the club are expected to welcome more stars in the coming days.

All eyes will be on the upcoming tour to the United States, where Real Madrid are expected to take on the likes of Barcelona, AC Milan and Chelsea.

However, before the Men in Whites jet off across the Atlantic, they are expected to face Albacete Balompie on July 24, in a friendly, reports MARCA.

This will be Real Madrid’s first unofficial game of the season, held just before the team flies to the United States later this month.

The game will be played behind closed doors at the Valdebebas and will feature the players available to Carlo Ancelotti.

The friendly against Albacete serves as an ideal opportunity for Ancelotti to try out some of the young players at his disposal.

The game will also serve as an opportunity for the Italian coach to fine-tune his tactics and test out the physical capacities of even the most experienced players in the team, especially after a busy summer.

Luka Modric, Thibaut Courtois, Dani Ceballos and Andriy Lunin are among the marquee players likely to be available for this game.

With Real Madrid setting their sights on retaining their La Liga title as well as the Champions League, the club will be hoping to get their pre-season campaign off to a positive note by securing a win against Albacete.
